The Detail

About this piece

Hand block printed linen: a sage-green bel vine stamped in Sanganer, Jaipur on breathable flax-blend linen of around 150 GSM. Linen's slubbed texture takes block pigment with a slightly dry, painterly edge that cotton cannot replicate — ideal for shirts, shift dresses, unlined jackets and premium table linen. Sold per meter at 44 inches wide, with the same honest GI craft label as our cottons.

How to wear

Sew it into boxy shirts, summer co-ords or a six-seater tablecloth; linen creases are part of the look, so embrace a relaxed press. Pre-wash cold before cutting — linen relaxes and softens on the first wash. Shade-dry and iron while damp for the cleanest finish.

Questions

Frequently asked

Will linen shrink more than cotton?

Slightly — allow around 5% and always pre-wash before stitching. After the first wash it is dimensionally stable.

Why does the print look drier-edged than on cambric?

Linen's slubbed, absorbent surface takes pigment unevenly by nature; block printers prize that painterly edge. It is a texture effect, not a defect.

Is this good for table linen?

Excellent — 150 GSM linen drapes and launders well. 2.5 m makes a six-seater tablecloth; add 1 m for six napkins.
