The Detail

About this piece

Grey block print fabric carrying the Mughal bel — a climbing floral vine drawn from Mughal garden borders, hand-printed in soft dove grey on off-white cotton cambric. The quiet palette makes it the most interiors-friendly meter in our Sanganer range: curtains, cushion fronts and table linen, as well as understated kurtas and shirts. 44 inches wide, sold per meter.

How to wear

Run the bel vertically for curtains and kurta panels, horizontally for table runners. It pairs with charcoal, white and unbleached linen. Pre-wash cold before stitching; grey pigment is among the most stable in the range, but shade-dry to protect the off-white ground.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is grey block print fabric colourfast?

Yes — grey pigment is very stable once cured. Standard first-wash care applies: cold, separate, mild detergent, no bleach.

Is this suitable for curtains?

Yes for light-filtering curtains at 44-inch panel width; line them if you want full opacity. Around 5–6 m makes a standard window pair.

How can I tell it is hand printed?

The vine shows through on the reverse and the repeat carries slight hand offsets at block joins — both absent in screen print, which we do not sell.
