The Detail

About this piece

A hand block printed cotton carrying kalamkari-inspired motifs — creepers, birds and paisley in an earthy multi palette of madder tones, black and mustard. Honest label first: this is block printed in Sanganer, Jaipur as a tribute to Andhra's pen kalamkari, not pen-drawn kalamkari itself. The dense storytelling repeat suits jackets, dupattas, tote bags and statement quilting. 44 inches, per meter.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this real kalamkari?

No, and we say so plainly: real kalamkari is pen-drawn in Andhra Pradesh. This is a Sanganer hand block print inspired by those motifs — hand-made, just a different craft, honestly labelled.

Do multiple colours mean multiple blocks?

Yes — each colour needs its own carved block and a separate pass over the table, aligned by eye. Tiny colour offsets between passes are the hand-work signature.

How much for a jacket?

2 m makes a short unlined jacket; 2.5 m adds a matching potli or belt. Sold in half-meter steps so you buy only what the pattern needs.
